Sarah Palin is now a grandma.

And apparently one of the most admired women in this country, behind Hillary but ahead of Oprah. Gag me.

Many people have flooded the Palin home with gifts for the baby. Again, gag me. These gifts should've gone to people less fortunate than the Palin's. Women's shelters, especially women's shelters that cater to victims of domestic violence, they can always use items for babies and children.

I hope that the Palin's donate some of these items, if not all, or most, to people who are less fortunate.

Status of the blog.

I'm gonna keep this blog around. I won't update often, but I don't think Sarah Palin is going anywhere and I'd like to update this every now and again so when she rears her head, I'll be there waiting.

Betty White calls Sarah Palin a Crazy Bitch

WHO IS SARAH?

Palin backed [former Alaska Independence party chairman, Mark] Chryson as he successfully advanced a host of anti-tax, pro-gun initiatives, including one that altered the state Constitution’s language to better facilitate the formation of anti-government militias. She joined in their vendetta against several local officials they disliked, and listened to their advice about hiring. She attempted to name Stoll, a John Birch Society activist known in the Mat-Su Valley as “Black Helicopter Steve,” to an empty Wasilla City Council seat. “Every time I showed up her door was open,” said Chryson. “And that policy continued when she became governor.” ...

Why no principled conservative would seriously contend that Palin belongs on the ticket

After all the post-debate chatter about Sarah Palin’s resurrection (I bet a lot of folks were saying “Jesus” during her performance) and about her potential 2012 presidential candidacy (paging Mitt Romney & Co.), the real story of last week’s encounter was that the true elitists were revealed.

The McCain campaign has affixed that label to Barack Obama for months, and he has helped the cause with his inartful San Francisco comments (now who’s bitter?) and his support from traditional elitist constituencies, especially those Hollywood do-gooders. But on Thursday evening, as Palin gosh-darned and doggoned
her way to an alternately vacuous and evasive performance, it
became clear that the Republicans’ last, desperate hope this
cycle is that the American people are morons.

Post Turtle

In honor of tonight's one & only VP debate, I send you this. It came to me via email from a friend in Vermont. I have no idea where she got it, but now it's here for you to enjoy:
I was suturing a cut on the hand of a favorite patient and friend of
mine, an old Texas rancher who'd caught his hand in a gate while he was working
cattle. While I worked, we talked and the conversation came around to
Sarah Palin and her bid to be a heartbeat away from being President. The old
rancher said, "Well, ya know, Palin is a post turtle."Not being familiar with
the term, I asked, "What's a post turtle?"The old rancher said, "When you're
driving down a country road and you spy a fencepost with a turtle balanced on
top, that's a post turtle." He saw that I looked puzzled, so he continued, "You
know she didn't get up there by herself; she doesn't belong up here; she
doesn't know what to do while she is up there and you just wonder what kind of
dumb ass put her up there to begin with."

Welcome To My Addiction!

Hi there and greetings from the right coast, New Hampshire to be specific.  I'm a friend of Jessica's (we met during the NH Primary), a fellow blogger, and fellow Woman Against Sarah Palin, so she invited me to join her here.

Let me start with a confession: I have an addiction.  Yes, an addiction to Sarah Palin.  And it's not healthy (what addiction is??).  I can't get enough of her.  It's like when you drive by an accident; it's sad, gory, unpleasant in so many ways, but you cannot turn away!

Whether it's speculation about her pregnancy, her hunting practices, her reading habits, her beauty pageant experience, or even her lips, for crying out loud, I can't get enough.

She's a big bully, and a liar.  And, did I mention a freak?  My five year old twins understand more about evolution, dinosaurs, and global warming science than she does.  And they know more about reproduction than she teaches her children!  She can't name a newspaper she reads or a supreme court case!  How did this woman ever get this far?

So why, why, I ask you, am I so obsessed with her?  Is it because she's supposedly attractive (not my type)?  Or that we are about the same age??  Some might suggest I am jealous that I am not the SuperMom Governor she is.  Maybe, what I am really obsessed with is the fact that Americans LET her get this far.  My fellow citizens actually LIKE her and think she is qualified to be VP.  That is pathetic.

I work in academia, so by GOP standards, I am an elitist, and proudly so.  I have more degrees than Palin, and so does Jessica.  You probably do, too.  I want my public servants to be educated AND experienced.  I WANT them to know more than I know.  Sure it might be nice if they also understood what it was like to be a working mom or care for kids/aging parents/whatever, but that doesn't mean they should be "just like me," or that being an average hockey mom is somehow qualification in and of itself.  Here's an excerpt from a recent post of mine:
Call me an elitist (I prefer to be called a thinking person), but I like my candidates for the executive branch to have more than just a bachelor's degree.  I admit that I do favor law degrees especially. Studying law helps you understand, write, and pass laws.   A BA in journalism...sorry, it just doesn't cut it unless it's outdone (by many years) by experience on the national level. And a BA in journalism means you should know how the media works, and what it means to do their job.
So, I am beside myself with anticipation for tomorrow night's VP Debate on PBS.  Obama's team is trying to raise our expectations so she has a higher bar to jump over, but I don't think it's working.  I am going to be praying that Biden doesn't run his mouth too much, as much as I tend to love it when he does.  I plan to be watching with a friend and fellow addict while live blogging (maybe on Blue Hampshire), and chatting on Facebook. Because I just cannot turn away.

Palin is "SCARY"

Former New York Mayor Ed Koch, who endorsed and worked for George W. Bush in 2004, is endorsing Obama today, NY1 first reported.

I asked Koch just now what prompted the move.

"The designation of Palin to be vice president," he said. "She's scary."

Palin Implicated By Witness In ‘Troopergate’ Probe

"An Alaska woman who owns a company that processes workers’ compensation claims in the state has told an independent investigator that she was urged by the office of Gov. Sarah Palin to deny a benefits claim for Palin’s ex brother-in-law, a state trooper who was involved in an ugly divorce and child custody dispute with Palin’s sister, despite evidence that the claim appeared to be legitimate, according to state officials who were briefed about the conversation."

Palin Only a Heartbeat Away

I am against Sarah Palin because she doesn't believe in transparency and accountability as evidenced by the fact that she has only done three interviews (all of which revealed her inexperience and utter ignorance about...EVERYTHING).

John McCain has had serious health problems and might not make it through a term as President. Putting him and Palin in the White House, with Palin only a heartbeat away is frightening, and we cannot afford that gamble.
